Helping Art & Framing Center elevate its online shop with specialized, reflection-free product photography.
Effectively showcasing detailed products online, especially highly reflective ones like custom frames, demands professional photography. Art & Frame Center faced this challenge with over 180 unique items needing consistent, appealing images for their shop.
My role involved developing a focused photographic strategy, ensuring each item was captured accurately and without distracting reflections. Maintaining identical angles and framing across the entire product range was crucial for a seamless browsing experience, allowing customers to easily compare options.

Focus stacking merges multiple shots for tack-sharp images from front to back, revealing incredible detail.
Mastering Reflections and Depth: My Technical Approach to High-Volume, High-Shine Product Photography.
The core technical hurdle involved photographing a large volume of highly reflective surfaces, like glass and plexi boxes, without unwanted glare, while simultaneously achieving edge-to-edge sharpness across items with significant depth. Standard single-shot photography couldn't meet these requirements effectively. My solution integrated precise, controlled studio lighting set-ups to eliminate reflections. For depth of field, I implemented focus stacking, capturing a series of images for each item with adjusted focal planes. I also used macro photography techniques for detailed close-ups of corner joins, again employing focus stacking for clarity.
The focus-stacked image sets were meticulously processed using specialized software to merge the sharpest parts of each exposure into one final, hyper-detailed photograph. Maintaining absolute consistency in camera angle, lighting, and a rigorous colour calibration workflow across the entire catalogue was paramount. This systematic approach allowed me to handle the large volume efficiently while ensuring every image, from the overall view to the macro detail, met the project's exacting standards for clarity, colour accuracy, and visual coherence, delivering both high-resolution and web-optimized files.
