drunch
preparation is key
Drunch is a monthly magazine produced by Ter Groene Poorte. They mainly want to ring stories from in and around the school. Successful former students, famous chefs, creative dishes prepared by their students, worldly study trips… you name it. A duo interview with famous chefs is always the heart of the magazine and this was the reason they approached me.
Ter Groene Poorte needed a striking front cover image to grab your attention, followed by images to go with the interview. I was ready to take the challenge.
With only 45 mins to get the front cover and up to 5 other shots done, preparation was key.

ideas and sketches
Before the day of the photoshoot, we sketched out our ideas until a concept was agreed upon. We then ran a practise shoot using stand-ins.
photoshoot
On the day, I would set out each lighting set-up again using a stand-in model, marking each of the 3 lighting set-ups with all the information I needed. That meant that once the main shoot started I could be quick and efficient making the shoot run as smoothly as possible.
photoshop
A large part of each photo was the editing work afterwards. Colour grading, photo blending and effects all went hand in hand to complete each concept.
Over the course of the magazine I photographed Dominique Persoone & Sergio Herman, Gert de Mangeleer & Joachim Boudens, Peter de Clercq & Sofie Dumont, Filip Claeys & Wim Ballieu, Julie Baekelandt & Wout Bru, Yanick Dehandschutter & José Lemahieu.
Thank you Ter Groene Poorte for your trust and for allowing me to flex my creative muscles on this project!
