Meester Leplae and I set out to capture class 2a doing something that comes naturally to any kid, funny faces! Each kid got 3 goes and the best one was edited.
chevy chase [cheve-chace] noun, plural chevy chases. Cockney slang for face, example “you’ve got ketchup all down your chevy chase“. Cockney slang first used in the early 19th century in the East End of London.
amusement
In a 2017 analysis of about 50 studies, researchers found that only a minority of people’s faces reflected their actual feelings. According to co-author Rainer Reisenzein, there was one strong exception: amusement, which almost always resulted in smiling or laughter. We set out to get that reaction. 26 kids and 26 funny faces giving endless smiling reactions.

With so many camera devices in the world today, it’s easy to forget how important a moment can be. A class photo or a project such as this, I feel, is important in remembering that moment. We all take hundreds of photos with our phones each day but its what they represent that gives them meaning and value.
